Knowing Ganoderma

HOME > Knowing Ganoderma

What is Ganoderma lucidum?
Ganoderma lucidum is the fungus belongs to Polyporaceae family, Ganoderma category. The edible part of ganoderma is fruiting body, and honored as "Fairy Grass".

The applied range of ganoderma is very extent. It could be the adjuvant in the treatment of Internal Medicine, Chirurgery, gynaecology, paediatrics, E.N.T., etc. (from Linzhibin "Modern Research in Ganoderma")

What is spore powder of Ganoderma lucidum?
Spores are the seeds of the ganoderma. They are the powdery germ cells ejected from the cap. The diameter of spore is only 5-8μm. Every one kilogram of spores was harvested from 1,000 kilograms of fruiting body. The spores contained multiple active substances such as ganoderma polysaccharides, ganoderma total triterpenes, organic germanium and selenium, etc.

Why ganoderma spores need to be broken?
The spores are coated by the double layer cell wall; all the active ingredients are restricted in it and hard to be absorbed. The cell wall broken technologies contains biological enzymolysis technology, chemical digestion technology, physical broken technology, etc. The technology we used is supercritical CO2(carbon dioxide) extraction technology, by which the broken rate was high at 99.99%, and significantly enhance the absorption of spore lipid.

Ganoderma lucidum Spore Oil
The Ganoderma lucidum spore oil was extracted from G. lucidum spore powder by supercritical CO2(carbon dioxide) extraction and contained ganoderma total triterpenes and unsaturated fatty acid. Each one kilogram of spore oil was extracted from 100 kilograms of spore powder.

Ganoderma lucidum Fruiting Body
The fruiting body is the name of the total ganoderma. It can be divided by the stripe and cap. The cap contains plenty of active substance such as ganoderma polysaccharides, ganoderma total triterpenes, etc, and there are few active ingredients in the stripe and not fit for edible. So, the stripes are discarded in ganoderma production.

Extract from ganoderma lucidum
Ganoderma extract is the concentrated substance extracted by water or ethyl alcohol. It tasted bitter and is easy oxidized by oxygen, so the storage condition is very strict. The water extracts containing ganoderma polysaccharides, and polypeptide have the functions such as adjusting immunity, anti-tumor, prevent the damage of chemoradiotherapy, sedation, analgesia, anti-myocardial ischemia, antihypertensive, hypoglycemic, regulating blood lipid, enhancing anoxia endurance, antioxidation , scavenging free radical, and anti-aging. The alcohol extracts especially contained ganoderma total triterpenes have besides the similar functions such as protecting liver, anti-tumor, analgesia and scavenging free radical, they still have the functions of antihistamine release, inhibiting the activity of angiotensin converting enzyme, inhibiting the cholesterol synthesis, and anti-platelet clotting, etc.  (From Linzhibin "Ganoderma from amazing to science" )

Dose the ganoderma spores powder taste bitter?
The pure ganoderma spores powder is not bitter and the fresh powder smelled has the faint scent belonging to ganoderma. But the spore powder compound which mixed with the ganoderma extract tastes bitter.

What is the difference between ganoderma spore powder and fruiting body?
The fruiting body contains plenty of ganoderam polysaccharides, ganoderma total triterpenes, protein, and several kinds of microelements; the broken ganoderma spore powder was extracted by modern technology to break the cell wall of spores and processed under the sterility, room temperature condition. This keeps the bio-activities of ganoderam polysaccharides, ganoderma total triterpenes, polypeptides, amino acid, etc. The concentration of the total triterpenes in broken ganoderma spore powder, but the water extract from ganoderma contains plenty of polysaccharides. It is better to combine them to use.
